Jimmy Job and the Tiger
As told by Sir Edmund Hillary
Jimmy Job was living in his home in the base of a tree. One day, a tiger came along and Jimmy Job heard the tiger growling outside. Jimmy Job poked his head out his door and the tiger made a big swipe at him. The tiger was planning to have Jimmy Job for lunch.
Well, Jimmy J0b wasn’t too enthusiastic about being eaten by the tiger, so he had to think up some plan to send the tiger away. He thought and he thought and he thought, and finally he remembered that at the top of his tree there was a big, of' branch that was about to crack off. First, Jimmy Job had to figure out how he was going to get out of his little treehouse and climb up the tree to the dead branch at the top.
Jimmy Job thought and he thought and he thought, and finally he decided that he would have to persuade the tiger to go around to the other side of the tree. Jimmy Job looked around inside his house and there he found a rock that he used to crush the nuts and berries that he ate. He took out his rock, and peeked out the door. There was the tiger going back and forth, snarling and growling in front of the treehouse. The tiger was very anxious to get hold of Jimmy Job and consume him. Jimmy job had to wait patiently until the tiger turned to the other direction and looked away from the front door. Quickly, Jimmy Job stretched out his arm and threw the rock, far away from his doorway. Immediately, the tiger whipped around and dashed to the other side of the tree to catch whatever crashed in the bushes. The tiger snarled angrily wanting to have Jimmy Job for supper. Whereupon Jimmy Job emerged from his treehouse and quickly climbed as high as he could until he came to the dead branch at the top. He swung and swung on the branch that was almost too heavy to move. Finally, Jimmy Job managed to break it off. He had one hand clinging to a strong branch and the other to the broken branch, and from his spot he could see the tiger still pacing outside the treehouse. Now the tiger was even angrier because he hadn't been able to find Jimmy job.
At this point, Jimmy Job got into position and he called from the top of the tree. The tiger looked up and snarled at him. At that very moment, Jimmy Job dropped the big dead branch tight on top of the tiger's head. The tiger leapt in the air, gave another loud roar, and ran off into the dark bushes rubbing the bump on his head where the heavy chunk of wood had hit him.
With that, Jimmy job hurried back down the tree and raced into his home never to see the tiger again.
